The Tweddle family have been farming in Archdeacon Newton 1928, with Graham Tweddle now the fourth generation. There have always been cows in the village but it is only since 2000 the herd has been organic, when we joined the Omsco cooperative , and expanded to its current size. Conversion to organic status lead to the family moving into processing and retailing our own milk under the brand Acorn Dairy. In the last 19 years sales have grown and now the milk from the 500 cow herd is all sold through Acorn Dairy, with deliveries made from Aberdeen to London.

I’m Lyndon Edwards , and together with my son , Thomas , we run a farm and farm shop business , overlooking the River Severn , just outside Chepstow. We have been farming at Hanley Farm since 1972 and converted to Organic farming in 1999 when we joined up with Omsco, because we believed it was a better way to farm. To day we farm over 600 acres with over 240 prize winning pedigree milking cows and 100 cross bred Angus and Hereford Cattle.
Hanley Farm diversification started in 2006 with the building of a veterinary centre, followed in 2008 by a business centre . In 2013 we painstakingly and sympathetically renovated and extended a disused barn and former 18th Century coach house building on the farm, and in August of that year opened Hanley Farm Shop, which is fully licensed and has its own in-house Butchery, Deli and Café. Everything we sell is sourced locally wherever possible, much of it from a landshare site we help set up where people grow organic fruit and veg..
Since opening we have received numerous awards for our food, including 4 Great Taste Awards and in 2016 we won the prestigious Small Farm Shop of the Year Award.
