Despite the criticisms of the organisation of the GM deabte (or perhaps because of it) there has been a lot of media coverage, not least on BBC Breakfast TV.
I tried to get tickets for the meeting in Taunton but when I finally got to talk to someone they had sold out (and apparently were inundated with requests for them). It is possible to get materials to hold your own meeting including a video, CD, workbooks and feedback forms by calling 0207 261 8616 or go to http://www.gmpublicdebate.org.uk/ut_13/index.htm to have your say - before it's too late!.
Here are a couple of stories from The Independent.
GM crops could harm property values, surveyors warn
House prices may be adversely affected by the proximity of genetically modified crop sites, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors said yesterday as the National GM Debate was launched in London.
Campaigners tell Government to get a grip on 'badly organised' public debate over GM crops
Government preparations for a national debate to be launched today on whether genetically modified crops should be grown commercially in Britain have been "badly organised and chaotic", a leading campaigner said yesterday.
