A survey carried out by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development into international farming methods and techniques has revealed that every square kilometre of land in the UK is treated with just over half a tonne of pesticide. British farmers have been found to use twice as many chemicals as the international average and more than any other developed nation.
