According to a Mintel market research survey, fears over food safety have soared with 51% of women fearful about the food they eat. Pesticide residues caused greatest concern, followed by GM, food poisoning and BSE. Young adults wanted more information about food allergies and a third of participants wanted clearer labelling of ingredients and additives.
Despite this, only one fifth believed that it was worth paying more for organic food. More education is obviously needed!
