This weekend, the UKs largest supplier of organic milk, OMSCo (Organic Milk Suppliers Cooperative) is organising an organic dairy extravaganza at the acclaimed Eden Project as part of the Soil Associations Organic Week.
Eye catching displays will inform Eden visitors about the benefits of organic production in terms of health, the environment and animal welfare. Local organic farmers will be on hand to explain how, unlike other cattle, organic cows do not graze on pastures sprayed with pesticides, are not routinely injected with antibiotics and are not fed GM cattle feed.
The emphasis at the event will be on fun. Kids can milk a cow, and have their faces painted, whilst learning about organic milk and how it is produced. Free samples of delicious OMSCo supplied organic milk will be available for everyone to try.
Sally Bagenal, Chief Executive of OMSCo said, The focus at Eden this weekend will be on health and well being. Young and old can benefit from switching to an organic lifestyle and help preserve the countryside at the same time. With 10,000 expected visitors over the two days, it is a great platform to spread the word about the virtues of organic farming, and organic milk in particular.
She added, It is so important that members of the public can see the difference between methods on an organic farm compared to ordinary farms and learn about potential knock-on effects to our lives.
