In August 2001 Antony Worrall Thompson helped to launch the drink organic milk campaign and gave almost 20 radio interviews to encourage people to drink organic milk. Here are some extracts:
WHY DRINK ORGANIC MILK? "Organic milk is the cheapest way of starting on the organic ladder. Milk is the cheapest food to get the greatest organic benefit. Anyway, organic food isn't expensive - we need to ask why non-organic food is so cheap." Essentially, drinking organic milk is all about health, with taste secondary. I have devoted eight years to organic, ever since my auntie recommended it. I used to get ill right left and centre - but I haven't been ill for 12 years." "We need to go back to basics. We need to help biodiversity and the wildlife. Another example is the water boards who have to spend millions of pounds cleaning up after poor farming practices - non-organic food may appear cheap but these clean-up costs are not met by the prices of food but by the tax payer." |
